We are on our way to visit our pilgrim friends in Roanoke, Virginia. We stopped for a couple of days in Charleston, West Virginia.
Today we decide to go for a walk to the Kanawha State Forest. West Virginia is beautiful, all hills and gullys, The State Forest is just 20 minutes from the city so we got moving right after breakfast and after stopping at a supermarket to buy lunch we got on our way.
The road the GPS picked for us is very narrow and with many hills and curves. It was an interesting drive, When we arrived to the office of the park, the ranger advised us that there were some men hunting for bears. Our safest bet would be to go to a picnic area where two school buses full of grade 3s were.
The woods are great but we did not walk much, just enough to get us close to the 10,000 steps that we have set as our daily goal. We did see the kids go by and we had lunch at a picnic table.
Still we saw enough of the park to realize how beautiful it is.
