Toronto's High Park with the bird watchers

Once a month I get together with old friends for lunch.  This time we decided to go to High Park in Toronto and have a walk looking for birds.

John, the guide
 Nancy, another bird watcher

\The three amigos, Richard, Gil (me) and John

Richard

It did not take long for John to lead us to the bird sanctuary where we found wood peckers.  We saw a hairy woodpecker and a downy woodpecker and I managed to get pictures.  Don't ask me who is who.

We found some chipmunks.  At one point a young lady showed us a video that she had just taken of her petting one of these guys.  They are not afraid of people at all.

We walked down to the pond and I finally learned the difference between Wood Ducks

The boys are very colourful and pretty

The girls are cute but not as colouful

And of course there were lots of Mallards

Again the girls are not as clourful
 As the boys

In the way back we walked to the little zoo
There were some babies around like the Yak above
The baby bison was hiding behind mom
 And the sheep

And the baby llama

High Park is a beatiful place right in the middle of Toronto
